Onyx Skin Co. is a small skincare line built on one idea: tell people exactly what is in the bottle. Every product is fragrance-free and built around a single active at a stated concentration — one cleanser, one serum, one moisturizer that each do a job you can name, rather than a long roster of blends that overlap.
The organising idea is the formulation record. Every product page publishes the complete ingredient list, the key active and its stated percentage, the texture, how to use it, and — the part most brands leave out — who it is not for. Nothing hidden inside a proprietary complex, nothing implied by a photograph.
These are cosmetics: they cleanse, hydrate and improve the look and feel of skin. They are not drugs, and we make no claim that any of them treats or cures a condition. Where an active carries a genuine caution — an acid that can sting sensitised skin, a retinoid to avoid in pregnancy — that caution is on the page, not in the fine print.
What we will not say
We publish no customer ratings, no counts of past buyers and no quoted endorsements. This is a new shop. Any number we printed would be one we had made up, and a shop that invents its praise will invent other things too. When real customers have written about these products, we will publish what they wrote and say where it came from.
We do not make a claim about an active that we cannot support. Vitamin C can tingle. Acids can sting sensitised skin. Retinaldehyde takes an adjustment period. None of that is a flaw to be worded around, and all of it is written on the relevant product page rather than discovered after the first use.
We do not promise results a cosmetic cannot deliver. Our products support, hydrate and improve the look and feel of skin; they do not treat, cure or prevent any medical condition, and we will not say otherwise to make a sale.
The seven actives
We work with a short list of actives because a short list is one we can formulate around properly. Each does a specific, well-understood job, and each is explained in full on its own page.
- Vitamin C
- Stabilised L-ascorbic acid at a stated 15%. Brightens tone and supports collagen. Used in the morning, under sunscreen.
- Retinaldehyde
- A retinoid one step stronger than retinol and gentler than the strongest clinical retinoids. Night use only, built up slowly.
- Niacinamide
- Vitamin B3 at 5%. Calms redness, refines the look of pores and supports the barrier. One of the easiest actives to tolerate.
- Exfoliating Acids
- Glycolic (AHA) and salicylic (BHA) acids at a stated strength. Lift dead surface cells; not for use every night.
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Multi-weight sodium hyaluronate and glycerin. Draws water into the upper layers of the skin. Layered onto damp skin.
- Ceramides
- Barrier lipids in a physiological ratio. They are what a compromised or over-exfoliated barrier is short of.
- Mineral Filters
- Non-nano zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Sit on the surface and reflect UV; suitable for reactive and post-procedure skin.
If something goes wrong
A bottle occasionally leaks or breaks in transit however well it is packed. Send a photograph within seven days and we replace or refund in full — there is nothing to post back.
Returns are open for 30 days on unopened products in their original packaging, refunded within five business days of reaching us.
